Erich Zeisl: Orchestral Works
◆专辑介绍：音乐总监Neal Stulberg指挥UCLA爱乐乐团，演奏了作曲家Eric Zeisl从未被录音的作品。有Zeisl在青年时期在维也纳时的创作，如体量并不小的交响曲Little Symphony: After Pictures of Roswitha Bitterlich (1935-36)，和私密感很强的November: Six Sketches for Chamber Orchestra(1937-40)。而Zeisl在洛杉矶的成熟期作品，富有戏剧性的《大提琴与乐队大协奏曲》（Concerto Grosso for ‘Cello and Orchestra (1955-56)），是他的管弦乐作品中规模最大的。
1935年，Zeisl参加了当时非常受欢迎的Roswitha Bitterlich画展，Roswitha当时是一个14岁的提洛尔小姑娘。年轻的作曲家被她的画作打动，满怀激情地写下了他一生中唯一的交响曲。Zeisl后来回忆道：“那些画，尤其是画背后的想法，真是一个巨大的刺激，我回家就开始根据这些想法作曲，完成曲子只花了……4天。”
Bitterlich的画作，也就是本专辑的封面，“The Madman”,启发Zeisl写了交响曲的第一乐章。
大提琴家Antonio Lysy，因为他在雅鲁发行的唱片Antonio Lysy at The Board：Music from Arentina获得了格莱美奖而为人们所知。他与Neal Stulberg指挥的UCLA爱乐乐团合作，录音地点是洛杉矶传奇性的Royce音乐厅。
